Today we are beginning one of my favorite projects - the PSA! You will be working in a group with others who researched your same topic (human rights issues). We will be learning about what makes a PSA, watching some examples and comparing them to the rubric, and then getting in your groups to start collaborating. Finally, we will go down to the computer lab so you can begin the process of making your video. I can't wait to see them!
Media Center Day! Today you will be researching an assigned topic, which is a human rights issue. Directions for Research: 1) On the blog, hover over Units. 2) Hover over Unit 3. 3) Find your topic, click on it. 4) Use the resources there to complete your research packet. 5) Fill out your packet to the best of your ability.
Registration Days!! - You will be going to homeroom in the morning and afternoon these two days, then circulating to your classes for registration for next year. The class most of you are moving into is American Lit, which is the standard 11th grade course. If you have any questions, please let me know. Summer Reading information will be given out towards the end of the semester. While I register you, you will be working in partners to create a Body Biography on one of the three main characters from ABC. These are due at the end of class tomorrow! Directions are below, in case you need them.
Today we are finishing up American Born Chinese and working on the character logs and reflection questions. Hope you enjoyed the book! ALL work for the book is due by Tuesday.
This week we will continue reading American Born Chinese . For each chapter, you will complete a character log tracking the complex characters and analyzing how they develop and affect the novel. If you are absent/miss a chapter for any reason, it is up to you to catch up on the reading and the character log. Please let me know if you need help with this - you can come in the morning and use my books!
Today we are continuing our look at the theme "teen angst" and beginning an argumentative essay on the topic. It is really important for you to learn how to write a strong persuasive essay, so that you can do well on the graduation writing test next year!! Your final essay is due by Wednesday, March 18 (typed in 12 pt Times New Roman OR neatly handwritten).
Today we are kicking off Unit 3: Teen Angst - The Struggle is Real! We started off with an opinionnaire and a very interesting debate in all classes about teenager problems and related issues. This took so long that we didn't get through everything, but you did learn what teen angst actually means and ranked the top three problems or causes of teen angst. Tomorrow we will pick off where we left off. Notes and handouts below.
