I had kind of forgotten that today was Friday the 13th, but maybe it explains why everyone was in a little crazy mood today?!
Today in class we did a quick warm-up to review yesterday's lesson, then we finished reading the article "What's wrong with the teenage mind?" We annotated, discussed, and responded to this text. I hope you learned something new and interesting from this reading.
Next you worked in groups of 2-3 to read an article from the UNICEF Report on Adolescence (2011). I am attaching the full report below, in case you're interested in reading it. In your groups, you read, summarized, annotated, created a poster to demonstrate your knowledge, and presented your poster to the class. If you participated, worked hard, and turned this in, you received credit for today's assignment -- since you all did a great job. If you were absent, you have been excused from this assignment.
1) Your essays about "God Grew Tired of Us" and Unit 1 are due on Monday. Remember these go in your notebook, on pp. 33 & 34.
2) You need the book American Born Chinese by Monday, September 30.
3) Grades are due next Friday, September 20, so if you're missing any work that you want to turn in, you MUST have that in the basket by Tuesday. If it's not in there at the end of day on Tuesday, it's a 0.
4) Monday we're going to be in the lab with the lovely media specialists to begin learning about online research. You'll be focused on your assigned topic. If you were absent yesterday or you never turned in a ballot, I have added you to a group. The document on this page has the most updated groups.
