Happy Tuesday!
Today we are going to continue working on the graphic novel project. Remember, your objective is to create a narrative text in the form of a graphic novel that shows your understanding of the theme "teen angst," as well as the terms we acquired throughout this unit.
At this point you should definitely be working on your final draft, and if you're not, you should be a little bit alarmed that you are behind schedule. All the steps and due dates were laid out from the beginning, and I have given you multiple reminders, so there are nooooo excuses. As I said to you in class yesterday, if you have an extenuating circumstance, please come talk to me asap.
And finally...... a VERY important, VERY cool extra credit opportunity. Many of you may know about Bert's Big Thank You, a campaign run every year by a local radio show. The goal is to collect handwritten letters to send to American soldiers fighting overseas.
http://bigthankyou2013.com/Here are my guidelines:
- You may write up to 20 letters for 5 points each = up to 100 bonus points.
- Each letter must be handwritten, heartfelt, original, and free of any political statements.
- Each letter must be AT LEAST two FULL paragraphs.
- Each letter should be neat and professional, at a minimum. Nice and decorated are preferred and will be given more points :-)
- All letters are due to me no later than Wednesday, October 30, so that I have time to sort through them and deliver them.
- You cannot write to any specific person. There's no guarantee it will get to them.
Here are the guidelines from the campaign:
Each letter should be heartfelt, handwritten, original, and free of any political statements. The purpose of the letter is to express thanks to the military personnel currently deployed outside the United States. We reserve the right to eliminate those messages that are political in nature and do not reflect a positive message in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
- All letters must be on 8.5” x 11” paper or smaller.
- Do not use glue, tape, staples, cardboard, glitter or otherwise attach anything to the paper.
- NO construction paper.
- Decorate using crayons, markers, pens or pencils.
- Use both sides if you like, but use one page per letter only.
- Do not send greeting cards or photographs.
- Feel free to include your mailing and email address.
- Individual letters should not be sealed in envelopes.
- Do not send anything except letters.
