Happy Hump Day!
Today we are beginning Unit 4 - "From Rags to Riches." This unit will focus primarily on the drama Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw (from England). You may know this story better if you know the movie "My Fair Lady." Basically, it's a story of a how a poor girl from one of the worst areas of London becomes successful (in social status terms) through education and self-improvement. We'll use this as a vehicle to discuss real world success stories and the possibility that anyone can achieve their dreams if given access to the appropriate resources. It should be a great unit and an awesome way to wrap up the semester!
Below is the PowerPoint for today and the Myth of Pygmalion, which kicks off our reading.
