You have been hired by Penguin Publishers to re-design the cover of The Great Gatsby for a new edition. Your cover must be inspired by the symbolism and themes of the novel, and your attention to detail should make evident the message about the book you want to convey. As with any book, you should create not only the cover art for the front, but also what you want to appear on the back of the book jacket. You will use Canva to create this. Keep in mind that not all images found on Google will be able to be imported into Canva. When you are finished, you will need to save your Canva as a PDF file for submission In order to submit your new cover, you must convince F. Scott Fitzgerald that your cover is even better than the Cugat original, which is discussed in the Smithsonian article (see attachment below if needed). ![]()
Be sure that your argument is posed directly to Fitzgerald, and includes both your own appeals (using your best rhetoric, of course!) as well as a counterargument pulled from the article. You may wish to type your writing component in Word first, but ultimately, you will submit both that and the PDF of your book cover by clicking here. ![]()
