We have been working on a group project for the past 8 days. It is one of the 10th grade English standards that students will work in a group with peers assigned based on data, especially peers they do not normally work with/talk to, and set ground rules, work cooperatively, and complete a project, etc.
There were multiple grades assigned for this project; for the parts the group was responsible for completing together, they all received the same grade. These are as follows:

I realize it may be frustrating if you are unhappy with your group's grade on a part that you did not work on, however, throughout the six days of class that we worked only on this project, it was expressed over and over again that the entire group would receive the same grade for each component of the project, in addition to an individual grade and a group work grade. Additionally, you had an entire day of class to brainstorm and plan each segment together, so that everyone would have a stake in each part.
You also had the option to do an extra credit section of making two posts on social media. Only a handful of groups took this opportunity, and it did help their grades.
Finally, each student was asked to score themselves and explain their personal contributions. This score was entered as an individual grade. Each student was then asked to rate each group member; those scores were averaged together to give each student a group work grade.
There were many amazing groups and projects, as well as a few who did not do so well. This was a good learning experience for all and hopefully you learned something about human rights and also how to work in a group.
