So many of you have tons of questions after reading American Born Chinese! I wish I could answer all your questions... but I can't. So, we came up with the idea that maybe the best person to answer your questions is the author himself, Gene Yang. From that is born this opportunity for extra credit and extension of your learning and reading.
Assignment
Write a letter to Gene Yang, explaining your thoughts, asking your questions, and giving him your compliments on American Born Chinese.
Requirements:
1) Your letter must be one-page long.
2) It must be personal, polite, and polished.
NO SPELLING MISTAKES
NO GRAMMAR ERRORS
NO NON-ACADEMIC LANGUAGE
3) It must be heartfelt and authentic.
YOUR THOUGHTS ONLY
ASK QUESTIONS
AVOID NEGATIVITY
4) You MUST turn in a typed draft to Ms. Yeganegi first.
YOUR DRAFT MUST INCLUDE PROOF THAT YOU HAVE HAD SOMEONE ELSE READ AND EDIT YOUR LETTER BEFORE SUBMITTING IT TO ME. WHEN I GET IT, I WANT IT TO BE VIRTUALLY FREE OF ERROR – I CAN JUST HELP YOU MAKE THE MESSAGE PERFECT.
5) Once we have perfected your letter, we will submit it to Gene Yang. Cross your fingers for a response!
