Upcoming/Reminders: - Common Assessment on Thursday - Spring Break next week!!! - Snow Day Remediation Work due Wednesday, April 16 Happy Monday! I'm baaacckkk!! Thanks to all those who behaved for the substitute on Friday. But 4th block.... oh no. Today we are going to start in the computer lab, using Synergy to complete a grade reflection. This is the 10th week, so it is crunch time! Time to get serious about your grades and figure out what you need to do. Then, we're going to be starting a short group project called Body Biographies. This allows us to focus on the growth and development of the three primary characters in ABC: Monkey King, Jin, and Danny. I think you guys will enjoy it! Notes & Directions are below. Also remember, the ABC questions and character sketches are due today. Major grade, so it's 10% off for every day late. No excuses on this one as we did them all during class, AND you had all day Friday!
Today we should be finishing up the last 2 chapters of ABC. Remember, all questions and character sketches are due on MONDAY!!!
Still chugging along through American Born Chinese... Today, we are reading Ch. 6 and Ch. 7. You will be able to finish all the questions and part of the character sketches for these chapters. ALL your handouts will be due on Monday, 3.24--- so if you are behind on any of the chapters, you need to get caught up on your own time!
Reminder: Extra Credit is due tomorrow!
On Friday, we watched a documentary about the Lost Boys of Sudan, refugees who face the challenges of assimilating into American culture. The film, "God Grew Tired of Us," is available on Netflix. Today, we're back to American Born Chinese! We will spend the first part of class learning about the history of anti-Chinese sentiment in the United States, as background knowledge you need for Ch. 3 and the rest of the graphic novel. Then we are reading Ch. 3 and continuing our normal activities. Please make sure you view these notes if you are absent!
Today we are starting our study of graphic novels and American Born Chinese. Notes are attached! Make sure you have all the vocabulary down - start studying!
