Today we will do peer feedback for your three required pieces (rough drafts) and you will have some time to revise your rough drafts in preparation for finishing your project. If you are absent, make sure you have someone in your life read your pieces and give you feedback! It's the key to making your writing better!
Today, we continue working on your pieces for the Memoir Project. So far, you should have complete rough drafts of: - The "My Name" piece - The Personal Credo Today you will do a rough draft of a Personal Narrative Essay. Tomorrow (Tuesday), is peer editing time. Wednesday we have the lab so you can work on whatever element of your project you need the time for. Remember that your project is due on Friday! Extra credit is due on Friday as well!

Today, we will: 1) Finish "The Giver" 2) Begin our study of MEMOIR WRITING 3) Brainstorm memories from our lives that could be memoir topics 4) Write six-word memoirs IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT LATE WORK: Many of you have not turned in assignments from Unit 2, including "Hairs," the figurative language packet you had last week with the sub, the worksheets for the stories "No Speak English" and "Chanclas," and the vignette writing packet. The deadline for these assignments is WEDNESDAY 2/3. Please make sure they end up in the basket, if you have not yet turned them in, no later than Wednesday.

If you have a blog from summer reading or previous courses, please go ahead and use that! It's great to build an online portfolio. If you have never made a blog before, follow these simple directions: 1) Go to weebly.com. (You can use wordpress, but I don't know very much about it so I can't help you as much with that.) 2) create an account. You must have an email address. 3) Choose a theme. It doesn't matter which one. 4) Choose BLOG. . Not Site. 5) Once it is set up, you should see a blue button at the bottom that says "New Post." Click that. 6) Where it says "Post Title," click and type the title of your piece. 7) On the left hand "elements" side, you should see a box that says "Text." Drag it and drop it into the big square where your post is. 8) Click where it says "" Start typing your story. 9) You need two pictures! Find your pictures online and save them to your computer. 10) On the left hand "elements" side, you should see a box that says "Image." Drag it and drop it into the big square where you typed your post. 11) Click the green "upload" button. Find your photo and upload it. 12) Repeat. 13) When you're done, hit the orange button that says "Post." 14) Continue and hit the orange button that says "Publish." 15) Do whatever else it says next (i.e. verify that you're human). Once you are published, you should be live on the internet! Now, do this: 1) Hover over "Advanced Comp" on the top of this blog. 2) Click on "Student Blogs." 3) Find your class. 4) Click on Comments. 5) Leave a comment with your full name and your blog URL. Submit the comment.
